JustSystems Joins XBRL International to Promote Benefits of XBRL

Company to Sponsor 18th XBRL International Conference; Leverage XBRL’s Worldwide Momentum

VANCOUVER and NEW YORK — October 9, 2008 — The adoption of the XBRL data standard worldwide has changed the way financial information is being accessed and consumed, opening the door to exciting new scenarios for the widespread consumption and exchange of this information. However, there is an urgent need for effective and efficient tools for information consumers, who must be able to easily locate, manage, exchange and analyze this information.

JustSystems, the largest independent software vendor in Japan and a worldwide leader in XML and information management technologies, today announced that it will join noted XBRL advocates, including U.S. Securities and Exchange Chairman Christopher Cox, to discuss global adoption and implementation of XBRL at the 18th XBRL International Conference to be held Oct. 15–16, 2008 in Washington D.C. JustSystems, a silver sponsor of the event, will be exhibiting in booth 6.

In addition, JustSystems’ Diane Mueller, vice president of XBRL development, will participate in the following conference presentations:

Implementation Techniques (Technologist Track). A panel discussion about the current dimension, formula, and versioning specifications, as well as an overview of open source alternatives and products that an IT team can use to build their own tools. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2:00pm–5:30pm

Best Practices Committee Update. Panelists will present details of the growing body of information that XBRL International is assembling to share practical implementation approaches in successful projects. Leaders from the Board's work streams will report on results. Thursday, Oct. 16, 8:00am–10:00am

XBRL Standards Committee Update. The XBRL consortium operates, at a technical level, through a number of working groups under the overall management of the XBRL International Standard Board. At this session, you will hear from chairs of the Working Groups, describing and in some cases demonstrating the new functionality that has been developed for the consortium over the last 2 years. This is a must attend session for software developers, policy makers and end users alike. Thursday, Oct. 16, 10:00am–12:00pm

Showcase of XBRL — Enabled Analytical Tools. Moderated by JustSystems’ Mueller, this session will provide an overview of consumer-oriented XBRL applications currently available on the market and provide a forum for consumers to share their stories in this rapidly growing area of XBRL technologies. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2:00pm–5:00pm

The event will capitalize on the momentum building through recent worldwide initiatives related to XBRL including the rule proposals from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that would mandate XBRL for public companies, mutual funds, and credit rating agencies. SEC Chairman Christopher Cox will keynote the event.

Mueller will be joined at the event by Dave Raggett, World Wide Web Consortium fellow from JustSystems; and Dr. David A. Evans, president, CEO, and chief scientist of JustSystems Evans Research, Inc., to talk to attendees about how to leverage XBRL with the Semantic Web technologies. The Semantic Web promises to transform the web with new enabling technologies such as Resource Description Framework (RDF) and the Web Ontology Language (OWL) which, when combined with XBRL, will further the advancement of accessible financial information.
