JustSystems Announces XMetaL Integrated Authoring Solution with Support for 20+ Commercial Repositories
XMetaL for ECM Enables Universal Compatibility with Most Enterprise Content Management Systems Available Today
IBM Information On Demand, The Hague, Netherlands and NEW YORK — June 4, 2008 —
JustSystems, the largest independent software vendor in Japan and a worldwide leader in XML and information management technologies, today announced
XMetaL for Enterprise Content Management (ECM), a best-in-class structured authoring solution that seamlessly integrates with 20+ commercial repositories and file systems. With this offering, XMetaL is the first and only structured authoring application with seamless integration to virtually all leading content management systems, including repositories from IBM FileNet, EMC Documentum, OpenText, Interwoven, and Microsoft. This announcement was made at the
IBM Information On Demand Conference, which is taking place this week in The Hague, Netherlands. JustSystems is an exhibitor, speaker and Gold Sponsor at the event.
XMetaL is a market-leading structured authoring application that allows organizations to dramatically improve the quality and consistency of product and technical documentation, policies, procedures and other published content, while improving reuse and reducing the time and cost of creation, localization and maintenance. XMetaL for ECM allows organizations to pursue a content reuse and single-source publishing strategy using the repositories they already have, and without the cost and complexity of creating and maintaining custom integrations.
“Organizations have made considerable investments in content management systems and want to leverage those investments as part of their structured authoring and publishing initiatives,” said Rita Knox, research vice president, Information Infrastructure, for Gartner, Inc. “Structured authoring applications can work with these existing repositories giving organizations the flexibility to get started in single-source publishing. Using their existing infrastructure reduces cost, complexity and disruption.”
XMetaL for ECM provides multiple benefits for organizations, including the ability to:
- Get started with XMetaL using whichever repositories are already in place
- Deploy XMetaL across departments without disrupting how content is currently managed
- Integrate and automate the content creation and publishing lifecycle across repositories
- Create a path for migration to native XML repositories over time, as requirements mature
XMetaL for ECM leverages IBM WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition, a middleware technology that provides bi-directional access to multiple, disparate content repositories. JustSystems has entered into an OEM agreement with IBM (see “JustSystems Teams with IBM to Bring Structured Authoring to the Enterprise”
press release), which allows JustSystems to resell this IBM technology as the adapter framework for XMetaL.
“Increasingly, organizations are looking to deploy structured authoring applications more broadly, outside of technical publishing departments,” said Jake Sorofman, senior vice president of marketing and business development for JustSystems. “One of the key challenges is that these departments and workgroups have existing systems for storing and managing their content. XMetaL for ECM is the only structured authoring solution that works with — and not against — how content is actually created, stored and managed in the enterprise today. ”
