What’s New in XMetaL Reviewer
With the release of XMetaL Reviewer 5.3, JustSystems continues its leadership in structured authoring and true XML reviewing.
XMetaL Reviewer provides a powerful ‘single-source-of-the-truth’ approach to both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration to create and review XML content. The 5.3 release brings non-technical subject matter experts into the fold much more readily, encouraging them to contribute higher-value expertise and feedback. Tighter integration to familiar work environments engages SMEs in a manner that’s convenient and productive for them, and enhanced notification keeps every stage of development on-track for authors, contributors and document owners.
Reviewing and Authoring
- An enhanced user interface allows large structured contributions so that contributors can insert addendums or whole sections, suggest a more simplified structural design and format documents—all without proficiency in the technical XML underpinnings of the platform
- Improved image management makes retrieval and placement easier, and enables direct linking to publicly available images within an organization
- International support is expanded with features such as multilingual commenting, including multi-byte and Cyrillic characters
- An SVG image plug-in now renders this XML-based image standard
DITA Support
- Support for the latest elements of DITA 1.1
- Improved rendering of DITA documents, with easily identifiable conditional text and attributes
- DITA-ready support for long structured contributions
Project, User & Workflow Support
- Improved GUI with broader project management tracks progress, requirements and the participation of contributors
- E-mail notifications keep offline users advised of status and key milestones
- Active Directory / LDAP integration provides a more dynamic link between tools, internal or external people and content provides better transparency of document activity such as commenting
- Support for new authentication schemas and user management, including Active Directory, standalone user management and authentication system, or integration to an LDAP installation
